The Natural World is an open book, waiting to be read
An enthusiastic geologist would talk extensively about the many diverse structures of the Earth's crust. Some ancient soils are multilayered rocky materials, sometimes there are very thick accumulations of a great many thin layers of different colors sands, mud and pebbles fused together by eons of time.
In that painting called "A Geological Novel", the artist imagine those layers as book pages onto which every events and memories of evolution are inscribed, and wait to be understood. In the book one can find meaningfull symbols. For example, the Nymphea or Lotus plant is a strong symbol of a three stepped evolution, and frequently likened to the evolution of human beings. It first sprouts from the mud at the bottom of a dark pond, then the stem has to grow through the water struggling toward light, to finally emerge and bloom in the sun rays.
Let's begin a hunt for other symbols in this drawing!
